Shorttermcarinsurance.biz

I primarily used a Mac (10.9.3) and Firefox 29.0.1, but also checked Safari 7.0.4 and Chrome 35. I also tested on an Android 4.1.1 smartphone running Chrome 3.0 and an iPad running Safari 9537 and Chrome 34 on iOS 7.1.1.

The site generally looks good. It's clean and readable. The only minor issue was in both iOS browsers and in Safari on the Mac. While the image animation runs, the image buttons on the animated half of the main image disappear. Otherwise, the page loads well in all browsers and the image animation, buttons and mouseover thumbnails work. The image buttons are quite small, but that's a minor point because clicking isn't actually necessary.

The Android mobile site is readable but very basic and not really optimized for mobile. The link to the quotes page loads and works perfectly, but the URL in the copyright notice doesn't have a link. When loaded manually, it appears to be essentially the same page. To be blunt, this mobile site reminded me of a card I might see in a newsagent's window. It is so very basic that it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

Disclaimer, Privacy Policy and Contact Us links made me feel more confident about the site. A real postal address is particularly reassuring. The mobile site doesn't have those information links.

The product itself is interesting and useful. The distinction from regular annual insurance (particularly the fact that the insured need not own the vehicle) could be more prominent. Otherwise, I wonder why I shouldn't simply contact my own insurance company to modify my existing policy.

My concern would be that shorttermcarinsurance.biz  is just a referral site. I'd wonder whether it is adding value for me or just adding cost. That is, will I get a lower quote if I load the other site directly? The target audience might, however, be content to arrive at the right place regardless of what site referred them.

The text is generally good, though there are some minor points that would benefit from proofing. Is the use of EEC rather than EU deliberate? Why is the section 'Does it take long?' split into two paragraphs, unlike the other sections? I'd add a link to the start of the 'How do I buy it?' section (in the phrase 'Click on the link'). Similarly, the title and logo could link to the homepage at shorttermcarinsurance.biz/index.html.
